CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Consumption advisories have been issued for black bass, walleye and flathead catfish caught at Summersville Lake because of mercury concerns.

The advisories released Thursday are part of the 2009 West Virginia Sport Fish Consumption Advisory compiled by the state.

The advisories recommend limiting consumption of all sizes of black bass and flathead catfish caught at Summersville Lake to one meal a month. Walleye consumption should be limited to six meals per year.

Walleye caught elsewhere, along with sauger and black bass larger than 12 inches, should be limited to two meals per month.

A previous statewide advisory that recommended limiting brown trout to two meals per month was reduced to one meal per week.

About the Summersville Lake warning about fish and mercury. Does the mercury have any bearing on swimming in the lake. My grandson has autism and they spend a lot of time at the lake. He loves to be in the water. Is their anything to worry about concerning the mercury levels?

If the dnr would stock fish in there that were good to eat, then everything would be fine. that dnr fed the fish poison so we couldnt eat em from there.
