KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Metro 911 will soon have a new way to warn residents about emergencies.
Metro 911's board members voted Thursday afternoon to purchase a new emergency notification system.
The system will allow Metro 911 to send text and voice mail messages to cell phones about road closures, car accidents and other emergencies. Metro 911 can also notify residents by land line when an emergency happens in their neighborhood.
The 911 center in Monongalia County already uses this technology. Metro 911 doesn't know when it will start using the warning system in Kanawha County.
