COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Two Democrats were sworn in as Ohio attorney general and state treasurer Thursday.
Richard Cordray, formerly the state treasurer, took the oath of office as attorney general after easily beating his Republican challenger in the November 4th election. Kevin Boyce, a former Columbus City councilman, was appointed by Governor Strickland to follow Cordray as treasurer.
Both moves were made possible by the downfall of former Attorney General Marc Dann, who resigned last May amid a sexual harassment scandal. Cordray will serve out the remainder of Dann's four-year term, which began in January 2007.
Nancy Rogers took over temporarily after Dann left in May. Cordray thanked her today for restoring professionalism to the attorney general's office.
