CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man from St. Albans accused of abusing one of his own family members will spend 30 years in prison.

That was the sentence handed down Thursday in a Kanawha County courtroom.

David McLaughlin pleaded guilty last September to two counts of sexual abuse and one count of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.

Police say McLaughlin was already a sex offender when he was charged with this crime.

I really had to take a moment before I was able to post my comments because I was finally facing an issue that I hadn’t dealt with in over 13 years. I was a victim of this man and at last that SOB couldn’t manipulate himself out of this one. At first I wasn’t going to comment but when I started reading everyone else’s I just felt compelled to leave my own. Call it a healing exercise. To Vicki, I pray for you. This man preys on single women with low self esteem and young daughters. He did it to my mom and he did it to you. Wake up! Your children’s safety is more important than any man. To Cleve, I remember you, and I forgive you for not believing what he did to me and my sisters. Dave had everyone fooled. I don’t think there’s any rehab for him. He’s narcissistic and doesn’t believe what he’s doing is wrong. To his other victims out there, my one piece of advice: don’t let what he did to you define you as a person. You can die in self-pity and self-loathing, but only if you let it.

Well Vicki F, just how stupid are you? What kind of mother leaves her children alone with a sex offender? Is your self-esteem so low that you didn't think you could find a man that wasn't a SEX OFFENDER? Did you ever think he might have been "attracted" to you to get to your daughters? Bought them all kinds of presents, why? You are a horrible example of a mother, and should be ashamed of yourself! Would you let Hannibal Lector babysit as well? What, was the devil not available to babysit????? You are even worse than this sick SOB. It is your JOB as a mother to protect your children, and according to your resume', you need to be fired.
