WINFIELD, W.Va. (AP) - Charges against eight men robbed at gunpoint last year during a high-stakes poker game have been settled.
Putnam County Prosecutor Mark Sorsaia says seven either pleaded guilty or entered no contest pleas to illegal gambling and were fined $300.
Charges against the eighth man were dropped in exchange for a $1,000 donation to local charities for food and toys.
Police say two women robbed the men of $27,000 in cash in November 2007 while they were playing poker in a storage building behind a bar near Hurricane.
Jacqueline Dennis was sentenced to 25 years in prison in October after pleading guilty to armed robbery.
Kimberly Steinbrecher is awaiting trial.

I think that if the girl that robbed the poker game got 25 years why does the gamblers walk away? The law in this county is like wayne county. We call it Pratt law here. Who was the judge? That is what kind of law it is there. The other girl that robbed the game, why is she on the streets?
Just goes to show that the "Good ol' boy" system remains firmly in place. To bad, this COULD be a nice area. To bad crooked judges, politicians and people keeping it from happening. Drugs, gambeling and theft are the 3 prime occupations in WEST vIRGINIA.
This is very confusing. I think anyone would have taken the community service. I would think the other (7) should now have their records cleared and be given community service. I think the prosecutor is totally wrong. According to WV gambling law 61-10-5 Community Service or diversion is NOT an option.
