UPDATE:
Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Steve Cooper has released the name of the victim involved in a shooting early Friday morning.

Grant Crul is from Hurricane. He is 19 years old. He is listed "under evaluation" at Charleston Area Medical Center.

ORIGINAL STORY
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is in the hospital after being shot Friday morning.

Metro 911 dispatchers say the victim showed up at CAMC Women and Children's Hospital at about 8:15 a.m.

Detectives believe this is connected to a 911 call about shots fired that came in shortly before the shooting victim was reported at the hospital. Someone called 911 and said six shots had been fired near Robbins Elementary School on the city's west side.

Police found a shooting scene on McQueen Street, but the victim told investigators that he was shot near Patrick Street.

The victim is reportedly in his 20s or 30s. Police say his injuries don't appear to be life threatening.

No other information about the shooting victim has been released. No suspect has been arrested.

So, the West Side hasn't become crime ridden huh? Have you looked at the headline today? Nuf said.............

You people can say what you want, but many are right. That whole West Side of Charleston has a bad rap, and in many parts can be considered the "hood." Just because a lot of elderly live there for over 30 years doesn't make it any different. They are just the poor unfortunate souls that are caught up in the middle of it. Seems like the person from Columbus didn't mention the natives from WV aren't too friendly either. Get your facts straight before you condemn someone else for stating what is seen on the news all the time. Not an assumption. Time will tell.

To anonymous, I wasn't really putting WV down. I was stating a fact that it seems like these shootings and robberies are getting to be the norm. I can remember it wasn't. A lot of it can be traced back to big city drug dealers coming into the area and ruining it. There just shouldn't be as much going on in WV as there is. It's not Detroit or Columbus. Nowhere near the size. I would even say that it's getting into dangerous territory when you compare it there to somewhere like Columbus. I imagine while it wouldn't compare in actual numbers of crimes, but it's up there if it's figured by average number of crimes to the number of residents. If you read the comment, you will notice I mentioned that!
