MADISON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Boone County woman has been given a new healthy start to life and it came from a complete stranger.
Betty Bias had a double lung transplant three months ago, after living the past 11 years with only six percent of her lungs functioning.
Bias was forced to take an oxygen tank everywhere she went.
Now, there are no chords attached and she is enjoying her life and her family. She can get up the stairs, around the house and even play football with her grand kids.
Bias is thankful for the family that helped make this medical miracle possible.
She will remain on heavy medication for a year to make sure her body doesn't reject her new lungs.

To Wes- keep your rude comments to yourself-my MOM will not start smoking! You have NO idea what she has gone thru to get qualified for a transplant. She had to go to Pittsburgh every six months and go thru extensive tests, like a 6 minute walk on 6 liters of oxygen, give at least 15 vials of blood, heart caths, Ct Scans etc.. She is also a thyroid cancer survivor-2 types of cancer. My mom is a very strong person, she was discharged from the hospital 3 weeks after her transplant and takes about 30 pills a day to keep alive. To everyone else, Thanks for the nice comments and Thank God and Donors!! Terri (Thankful Daughter)
