ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A grant approved by the State Controlling Board will be used to create jobs in Athens County, Ohio.
Monday, State Representative Debbie Phillips announced the final approval of the $1 million grant to Global Cooling Manufacturing Company of Athens.
Rep. Phillips said, "This is exactly the type of investment that the 92nd District needs during these challenging economic times." She also said, "Investing in advanced and clean energy is an important strategy to create jobs in southeastern Ohio."
Global Cooling Manufacturing Company is an industry leader in Free Piston Stirling Cooling technology. This technology provides highly efficient and environmentally friendly refrigeration.
The State Controlling Board approved the Third Frontier grant to continue commercial development and application of FPSC Technology.
Global Cooling Manufacturing Company will use the grant funds to continue integrating the technology into market ready products, including low-temperature coolers for medical applications.
