MINFORD, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A lot of people from our area are heading to the nation's capital next week to witness history.
But a more select local group will actually participate in President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration.
To ride in the presidential inaugural parade, accomplished equestrian and seamstress Mary Jo Wisecup decided to hand-make some new riding costumes inspired by the riding habits of Civil War ladies who copied their husband's uniforms.
Wisecup is among the 120 members of the Southern Ohio Ladies Aside. For nearly two decades, the group -- which includes members from around the nation, England and Canada -- have strutted their stuff side saddle at parades, fairs and festivals all over. Getting an inaugural invite, however, took some doing.
All involved said being one of three Ohio units selected from 1,500 to join in the Obama inauguration will be an unforgettable moment in their lives.
The other two Ohio units that will participate are the Ohio State Marching Band and the Cleveland Fire Memorial Pipes and Drums.

Funny that my original post didn't make it up, and it slammed these ladies (and the gentleman) for their choice of clothes while a message blasting President-elect Obama DOES get posted!!! Guess we know the editorial bias of this reporter and/or station.
