CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Telecommunications provider AT&T says it plans to expand its mobile network across West Virginia this year.
The company says it will upgrade and expand its existing 3G wireless network and add new cell sites.
Cell sites will be added in Beckley, Bridgeport, Elkins and Huntington. The company says it also will expand cell coverage along sections of U.S. 119 in northern Kanawha and southern Roane counties, and along state Route 10 south of Huntington.
AT&T says it will expand its faster 3G network in Beckley, Bridgeport, Morgantown, Clarksburg and at Snowshoe and The Greenbrier resorts.
The 3G network is designed to carry voice and data simultaneously at faster speeds.

They just put a new tower up in Inez greatly expanding the coverage. Yet we still get no 3g coverage... Appalachian Wireless promised to upgrade to EVDO by Christmas but we didt see that either. Sad days.
Dido Dave; AT&T has customers in the Harts area with just basic service, I know there is a new tower in that area and they (AT&T)still won't provide cell service for it's customers. I do know there are Millions of $$$$ appropriated for rural areas to have cell service and high speed internet. Where has the monies gone??? Not in the rural areas for sure. Hopefully some of the other cell service providers will supply the people with some modern technology and everyone can switch carriers.
i wish i was rich so i could get some things done around in this statel.
