GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Gallipolis City Commissioners have passed an ordinance banning pit bulls in the city limits.

According to the ordinance, the ban also extends to mixed breed dogs that contain pit bull, and "vicious dogs" that have, without provocation, killed or caused serious injury to a person, or have killed another dog.

The ban came about after a 13-year-old girl was seriously injured by two pit bull dogs in January.

If people would learn how to train their animals there wouldn't be any danger. Also, if the breed wasn't used for fighting they wouldn't have the nature to do so. Maybe something more should be done about that. Why not blame the owners? ]:

Bravo, Gallapolis! Folks, don't use the excuse "it's the people, not the dog" - for decades of research has proven that bloodlines make the animal act/react the way it does. If bloodlines didn't matter, then tell me why people pay millions of dollars to breed to the KY Derby Winner, or pay upwards of $10,000 to have the "next" AKC Champion show dog.... It's time to GET REAL. Remember when you knew the girl who dated the rebel kid because she thought she could "change him"? Remember how he didn't change? My point exactly.

Sometimes the Beast is the two-legged animal on the other end of the leash. Humans are what cause the aggression in these animals and the animal should not be punished for it, the person responsible should.
