CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A longtime Charleston councilman has passed away.

Mayor Danny Jones says that paramedics were called to James "Mose" Lanham's home Sunday, where he later died.

The mayor says that Lanham had been struggling with some health issues for awhile.

Lanham served the city's 3rd ward.

A black drape is now hanging over the main entrance of city hall to honor Lanham.

Mayor Jones told WSAZ.com that Lanham has been well liked through his long career with the city.

Lanham liked his job, too, as he was often pointed out for having a perfect attendance record for council meetings year after year.

Visitation is Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home.

Funeral services are planned for Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
