CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman who was living in a small metal storage building with her husband was injured in a fire Tuesday.
Marsha Day is listed in good condition at Cabell Huntington Hospital, according to hospital spokesperson Charles Shumaker. Ms. Day's son, Lawrence Blankenship, tells WSAZ.com his mother was injured after she fell trying to extinguish the fire in the building.
"My mom actually did not get burned. The way she got hurt was she ran back in and fell," Lawrence Blankenship said. "She was trying to put the fire out."
One neighbor, Ethel Armstrong, said to a WSAZ reporter on the scene that it appeared Ms. Day was burned.
"She couldn't put her clothes over her head," Ethel Armstrong said. "I said let me help you put your shirt on. She said she couldn't get it over her head."
Corporal Lafe Roberts with the Cabell County Sheriff's Department says the investigation revealed that the couple had been living in the building. Roberts said there was power running to the building from a car battery.
"At this point it looks like there were a couple living in that small storage shed, while setting up residence in a mobile home," Corporal Lafe Roberts said.
Blankenship confirmed to WSAZ.com that his parents have been living in the building, while they worked on connecting a water line to a mobile home on the property on Cedar Crest Drive. The ditch to connect that line was just recently completed. Blankenship says no minor children were living in the building.
Firefighters say they found propane tanks on the property. Blankenship, who lives out of state, says a gas lantern tipped over causing one explosion. One neighbor told WSAZ.com he heard "about three explosions." That happened around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The Fire Marshal's Office and Cabell County Sheriff's Department are investigating the fire.

i love my aunt and uncle very much and i really would appreciate it if u all had some respect for them. you wouldnt like it if this was someone talking about you.
uhmm i think its funny that you people talk about how bad the family of these people are! well i know them and i kno that family has tried to help them i mean how much help do they need her husband works for CSX. So obviously they have better things to spend thier money on then thier home. cause i dont care who u r if u have a job for CSX your gonna have a little bit of Money to spend on things.
The thing about this story is that a mobile home is involved, therefore they must be trash. That is what people think of mobile homes, that they are not a home because they are on wheels. I live in a mobile home and my own family thinks that I am 'white trash'. I have news for them, I am not trash, white or other colors. My home is clean and paid for. My husband can miss a week or two weeks of work and we can still pay our bills and have spending money. Most families can not even miss one day of work because they LIVE BEYOND THEIR MEANS. Thoughts to the family, you will get thru this and hold your head high.
