W.Va. to Get $11 Million in Block Grants
The funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are intended to support community groups that help Americans through tough economic times.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- An additional $11 million in federal stimulus money is heading to West Virginia, this time to the Community Services Block Grant program.
The funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are intended to support community groups that help Americans through tough economic times.
West Virginia's share is just part of $1 billion being distributed nationwide.
Block grant funds must be used to fight poverty, revitalize low-income communities and help low-income families become self-sufficient.
Eligible groups can use the money for things such as job training, financial literacy programs, nutrition, housing and emergency services.

Let's hope they aren't used like Bobby Nelson used previous SCBG/CDBG funds...funding the Cubs baseball team! But oh yeah, it WAS such a boon to "low income" residents in the West End - not MY justification and not ME calling W. End residents poor - that was HIS and Council's "justification and verbage" THAT is what those funds were used for back then & yes, the Cubs WERE a WONDERFUL addition & source of income/visitors to/for Huntington (which we desperately need now) BUT these funds are for actually HELPING low-income folks Just sayin'
