CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- There were a few traffic changes Thursday morning in Charleston after hundreds of veterans took to the streets.

The regional conference of the Vietnam Veterans of America began with a parade featuring several different high schools and American Legion posts.

Seven different states and the District of Columbia are participating in this conference. This is the first time in several years that it has been held in West Virginia.

The goal is to give veterans important information that they can take back to their local chapters.

"We will have seminars and different meetings about veterans issues, teaching them how to file claims, all types of different things to educate them to help other veterans," said veteran Ron Wroblewski.

The conference is at Embassy Suites in Charleston. It goes until Saturday.

If you would like to assist in organizing a parade for veterans you should contact a local veterans organization. I agree it would be a great idea but I cannot help anymore.

Huntington should consider an annual event for Vets and thier families. They would be so hospitable for our country's service men and women.
