Consolidation is a hot topic here in our region. Especially when a smaller local school closes to join into a larger county school. That was the choice Mason County Schools had, but communities there said "no".
Wednesday was the ground-breaking for Point Pleasant High School.
Educators and parents are excited about today because they are a step closer to their new facility. An important step, since they chose not to consolidate Hannan, Point Pleasant and Wahama High Schools.
Parents we spoke with say most importantly, they were able to get what they want - without giving up what they had.

Mason County currently has four schools under construction. Hannan, Wahama, and now Point Pleasant High schools - and New Haven Elementary.
