HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Drug testing middle school students? Cabell County's school system is prepping to do just that.

Seminars start this week for those students who want to participate in school sports. The school board is notifying all parents through an automated phone message that orientation on the drug testing starts next week.

"I was going to give them the entire policy with consent form, but I've changed my mind on that," Cabell County Schools Administrator Todd Alexander said.

He explained that's because of concerns the forms could be lost during summer break. Instead, the consent forms will be sent to students' homes at the start of the school year.

Alexander said any drug that could be found on students will be tested -- marijuana, alcohol, meth and cocaine, among others.

The school board already has done random testing at the two county high schools. The first wave of students will have orientation on Thursday at Beverly Hills Middle School.

If a child tests positive for drugs, the first step is to notify the parents --then there's mandatory retesting. If it continues, the child will not be allowed to participate in sports for the rest of the school year.

The administration had hoped to randomly drug test more than 500 high school students this year, but inclement weather prevented it. As of early this week, roughly 380 students have been tested. That testing will continue through the end of the school year.

if people do drugs..which i do not consider marijuana a drug but if people do drugs and it does not effect there school work, or anyone else than let them do it

It has been a very well presented program and it is deep rooted in many people's thoughts, especially ones who care deeply about nature and animals. I love our earth and God. I believe the Bible gives a clear picture of the future and global warming is not it. I believe God over man. No one usurps Him. He CAUSES it to rain on the just and the unjust. Even if you don't believe in Him, He still takes care of you. He controls the weather, not the Al Gores of this world. That is how I can know without a shadow of a doubt this is not man made. If all the scientists in the world spent every waking moment trying, they would not change the weather one tiny inclement. I know who holds my future. I apologize for having fun with you. I know you care about the environment. I do too. I give thanks for our earth daily; I don't worry.

Interesting what they were writing about. Seems they spent more time on trying to dodge and avoid Freedom of Information requests than actual science. Suppression of evidence, phony claims, doctored photos, etc...and guess what-only one US network covers the story. Guess which one? The rest of them cry about the hacking. Never mind the truth. That's why you still read stories about Obama jetting off to Copenhagen for a meeting on a phony-baloney issue while the country is begging for jobs. No, we don't need jobs, we need 2 trillion more on the debt and the government to take over HC system; we need cap and trade, to destroy our economy further and raise the cost of living on the old, disabled, children, etc...never fear, we get to see the Oprah and Obama have Christmas at the White House, hopefully with that $100.00 per lb. roast beef he likes to serve. Global warming and other plans are simply means to an end. Taxing more people. The idea of trading "CREDITS" for excessive carbon emissions and selling the credits for business who produce lesser emissions will create a whole new commodity to exchange on Wall Street. Yet another economic "bubble". The climate changes continuously, the byproduct of the tilt of the earths axis in relation to the sun. You know, spring ,summer, fall, winter. There is another factor however. The earths axis wobbles slightly, and very slowly. We cannot sense the wobble as it cycles once every 26000 years. This phenomenon also provides the basis for the 12 signs of the zodiac. Google "Precession of the equinoxes" for more details. This also explains Ice Ages.

I am putting the finishing touches on my book on how global warming is going to kill us all and I need to work on one last illustration with my crayons. I don't have the luxury of photo shopping a picture, or having any actual satellite photos, and still getting it wrong, making it spin the wrong way, or doing something really dumb and showing one over the Equator, but so what...like I say, the people I am going to fleece will never know that my hurricane spins the wrong way or is in a bogus location anyway. Oh and I need a picture of a coal mine, I am going to put it right beside my crayola-cane to show what causes hurricanes in the first place. It is just like RFK Jr. said more coal mining = more global warming = more killer hurricanes and I intend to illustrate it in a way that even a baby ostrich could understand.

Not hard to find proof of that if you make a real attempt. Does anyone remember burning rivers? Acid rain. Why some of you choose to believe a handful of information based on mountains of evidence proving climate change is more of a battle/argument than I can convince you of just posting here on The Yell. You're hopefully misinformed. Industry pays for studies to refute what is as close to a fact as can be in the scientific community. Industry would rather us pay for the pollution with our taxes than have business pay for their messes with their profits. Anyone ever heard of Superfund? Research, research, research from reputable sources; that's the key to understanding all of this.

There are photos, true scientific studies done by the majority of the scientific community (not the rogue scattering of scientists who are paid off by polluters). Haven't any of you ever seen the photos? Really - if that doesn't convince you, then nothing will. Yes, the world has had climate changes that are almost as significant as what is coming, but the difference is that then it got cold. Pollution, at this point, is not causing cooling, it's causing climate change, warmer in some places, cooler in others. Hotter oceans which affect current patterns which affect far more than any of you are aware. The speed this is occurring is far more significant than in past history, but forget about trying to understand if you believe the world is only 6000 years old 'cause you don't even believe in dinosaurs.

I hope I live long enough to witness this, we can't even get the government to manage the budget. Acid Rain in the 80's, Clean Air Act passed, no more worries, the things that contributed to what was so called acid rain still exist. Now CO2 emissions and the God-like effort to stop it. I have been thinking on how to spend my Christmas money to help the economy in a way that it helps Americans as well. (Job wise.) I know we owe China a huge debt, but that is not the fault of the people. I do not want to buy the junk they are flooding our market with, especially since it contains harmful chemicals. I did some looking and found a few ideas. For adults, I am going to buy food-grown in America and packaged in America. That will help our farmers. If I find American made clothing, I will buy that as well. And for the kids, there are plenty of things like books, movies, etc. that were made here. You may not agree with my ideas, but I hope everyone will check labels and not spend it ALL on foreign made products. Love one another and help where you can. That is the American way! If you don't have money to spend, give of your time to make someones life better. Smiles are always needed. :-)

Now I am not going to come down on the hunters and what they do (even though I am extremely against it) but I read the Herald Dispatch everyday online and I really dont want to see a bunch of pictures of dead deer and I am sure I am not alone. What the hunters do is their business but do we all have to look at dead animals??? I am sure that I am extreme case but when I see a cat, dog, deer, etc. on the side of the road it ruins my day. I dont want to turn on the computer and have to see them there too. I am sure that I am provoking people to do so by saying this but please dont send pictures of the deer you killed into Herald Dispatch. Just hang them on your wall so animal lovers dont have to see them.

Joking aside, I saw where the Rasmussen poll says only 34% of the public are still blaming humans for global warming. I am getting amused at the music talk on here I have no idea who any of these groups are, but they sure have some catchy names and songs titles. "Rat Salad"? "Chickenfoot"? I must have missed a lot.

After all, even if, say, all my emails detailing how I had suppressed evidence and ignored contrary information were somehow brought to light, exposing me and my movement as total and complete frauds and hucksters preying on the uninformed, we know only one TV network would even bother to discuss it, and those crazies on the radio, so all the people I am trying to soak would be utterly clueless. But, we need a contingency plan in case some unforseen glitch like this occurs; lets make a list of all the stuff that is going to kill us and have it ready to roll out on a weekly basis, just to keep people stirred up and in a state of frenzied anxiety. First off would be George W. Bush, that has endless potential; next would be Don Blankenship and the coal industry; yeah, good; rounding it out can be potato chips and diet pop. We could throw in fog and ostrich behavior as well, why not?

All the old 8-tracks that turned to fetucini noodles in the back of my van are posted on you tube. King Crimson, Mountain, Wishbone Ash, Klaatu, Frigid Pink, Sabbath, Steppenwolf, Budgie, are all on there. Even Iron Butterfly. What if some radio station had these on their playlists? Oh yeah, 9 minute solos don't do well on radio do they? LOL

Rat Salad was a song on Black Sabbath's Paranoid album. Maybe Eddie VH liked it. New Release last week from new group called Them Crooked Vultures. Songs have been on youtube for a couple weeks. Real good if you like Queens of the Stone Age or Foo Fighters. Another Super Group? Dave Grohl,Alan Johannes, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones make some pretty good rock, but they're no Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Ok, for the 206th time, I have NO problem with tax cuts as long as they benefit EVERYONE not just BIG BUSINESS and the RICH. As for tax breaks for Big Business, I feel the more a business does to stimulate THE US economy, (emphasis on THE US) ie. compensating their employees with a meaningful wage & benefit package, the more tax breaks they'll get. If a Big Business wants to seek short term record profit by paying poor wages & benefits and/or going overseas as opposed to long term financial gains by strengening The US economy then they will be paying for their greed in the form of taxes. I'll get back with you on the others. I for the most part agree with your ideas, I just think they need a little more teeth as the old saying goes. Have a very nice Thanksgiving everyone. Ooops, I about forgot to mention Rush, didn't I Keith?

I will not grant interviews. If I decide to fly in on a private jet, that is my business. If, when I separate enough of you from your money, via the book I will have written by tomorrow and the film I am working on, to buy myself a huge mansion on a hill it is none of concern. If you are a professor, join me; you can trust my qualifications. It will never get out that I am a total fraud, will it?

Or Notre Dame? Michigan? Guess Coach Snyder should take it as a compliment that he's know so well he's the only one in all of sports where 'so called fan's' are calling for his head! I think WE should be thanking him for putting up with such bs for 5 seasons! Man takes a nothing left to work with team and more than likely will take them to a bowl and people still complain--freakin' IDIOT'S!

I remember seeing them sometime in the mid 70's when it seemed there were 2 or 3 concerts locally each week. My first concert was in about 70 or 71 at Memorial Field house. Who sang "Inna Godda Da Vida" baby? I know, I was there!
