Celebrity Server Dinner a Singing Success
The celebrity server dinner was held at Elliott County High School. It is Sarah's Place's biggest fundraiser of the season.

SANDY HOOK, Ky. (WSAZ) - Sister Sally was probably the wildest server at the second annual Sarah's Place celebrity server fundraiser.

Sarah Neale (Sister Sally's real name) is the director of Sarah's Place. It is a woman's center in Elliott County that trains woman for the workforce and provides day care for children.

She and Sister Maritia Smith were 2 of 19 celebrity servers who helped bring in more than $5,000 for the non-profit organization.

Billy Hough of Kentucky Bank raised more than $1,500, the most of any server.

"(Billy's) nickname was 'Karaoke King'," Sister Sally said. "We had to start paying him to stop singing."

Eastern Kentucky Correctional Center Warden John Motley earned the second-most donations.

The celebrity server dinner was held at Elliott County High School. It is Sarah's Place's biggest fundraiser of the season.

Sister Sally & Sister Maritia are 2 of the most caring, community minded, fun-loving people I have ever come in contact with. They are committed to being an asset to Elliott Co., but first and foremost, they are committed Christians. And, they never seem to run out of energy or ideas to further their cause of making our county a better place for everyone!!! Thanks to both of you, as well as all the servers for making this event so entertaining!! Can't wait till next year!!

This is such a refreshing story. Sarah's Place has been a great asset to Elliott Co. Watching Rocky, Walter, John Claude, Judge Wiholt, and others working and having a great time to raise money for a good cause.

National unemployment is at nearly 17% counting out of a job and give-ups, and all this so-called "stimulus" money, for "shovel ready" projects, is used for this??? Maybe they are going to shovel the old papers in the trash can, yeah, that will qualify, way to go Obama, you really know how to create jobs. If this was not so pathetically stupid and funny it would make you cry for the people who so desperately need a job and cannot get one, because NOTHING is being done to help them. Oh well, as the old joke goes, its job security.

That sounds to me like the intend on taking over that too. I have heard Obama say many times over the past few years that he intends to destroy private insurance and have only the government. He said it. And on top of that, they are going to cut half a TRILLION dollars from Medicare, so our older folks won't get the care they need. If you find yourself in wal mart more than 4 days a week, beware of the secret shopper man they have working for them. I first noticed him peering through the vegtables at people, then I saw him walking frantic through the store in circles. At first it freaked me out, then I realized what he was doing. Why in the world would they hire such a strange person. Well one night I was in there with my children and he approach me and started to strike up a conversation, he asked me why I was in the store so much, at this point I knew he was trying to scare me from coming back or shopping there as much, it really made me upset, because the bulk of my shopping is done there. I am upset every time i have to go in wal mart because he is not a good secret shopper if he stops and gives hiself away like that, but i called and complained because he continues to follow me, and they said he is able to do that to all customers.   • Posted By: Jim: Austin people will still have options there will be more than 1 insurance company.Yes I can see a company making a profit but 2 asprins costing $82 come on and the cost difference for treatment from 1 location to another being double or more and the cost for coverage being higher because of your location it all happens now,check the facts right now people who buy their own plans still pay 52% of the cost of their total care yet if they have a company plan with the same coverage they only pay 24% this is why people dont buy insurance on their own. Most countries health cares administration fees equal 5% the US is 11% why.Have you read the final plan if so tell me what part you dont like.Chances are if you work you will be covered thru work and we all know that ones who dont work are already covered thru one program or another that we already pay for thru taxes but the people who work and cant afford care right now are the ones that needs the help they are getting

When the government takes over ther will be no other options. NONE. To be honest smokers should have to pay higher premiums, just like if you live next to a river you pay for for flood insurance, since you do have a better chance of being a victim of a flood them someone who lives on a hill. And as for not going to jail if you dont carry insurance, you will be fined for not having insurance, and if you dont pay that fine what will happen? Nothing, I doubt it. Bottom line is insurance companies are in it to make a profit, so decisions are made for that purpose. If your employer said they may or may not pay you this week would you keep working? We the Taxpayers are funding the Death of Innocent People because we Fund the Highway System. It's the same difference.

I believe this statement should have been qualified with a more accurate comment with a basis in fact... something like - "There is NO PUBLIC FUNDING of ABORTIONS in the Health Care Reform Bill." I expect better of WSAZ and I am disappointed.

My husband and I are both WORKING and COLLEGE EDUCATED who are struggling to pay other bills because of this electric bill! We are looking into alternate sources of heat like gas, wood or pellet stoves. It is just a shame that the state of WV would allow this to happen!

Anyway, what I wanted to add was an additional purpose of health care reform-it will draw even more masses from Mexico. And of course, the recent drug wars there are spilling over on to us, so it will have to be sooner or later we will have to take action. The end result was the original objective-to open the borders between US/Mexico/Canada, making us one, just as the EU, which we will combine with through the ruse of global climate control.   • Posted By: Margaret: Am I the only person struggling to pay the electric bill?I have AEP and my bill has more then doubled since January.I was so convinced that the meter was broke that I called and had it tested by an independant electrician.My bill was almost $700 for one month,and was never over $250 in the 5 years that I v lived here.I m told that they did a 30% increase on the electric.I v also been told that it was per kilowatt.During thease hard times ,recession,ect,how are we supposed to survive.And what about the elderly on fixed income.As well as disabled,single parents .I have talked to family members who say their bill has doubled or more.We need to stand up to thease large utility companies,maybe a petetion,calls to our state leaders ect.

I now only purchased Vet approved flea control medication. The higher cost is worth the peace of mind. I am happy to hear the medication will be more closely regulated.
