HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- About 2600 graduates received diplomas this weekend at commencement ceremonies at Marshall University.
Former Marshall Quarterback and current Miami Dolphins Quarterback Chad Pennington returned to his alma mater to talk with students about success after graduation. Pennington has played in both New York and Miami in a professional career since leaving Marshall. He also received an honorary doctorate after his speech Saturday.
It was Marshall's 172nd commencement ceremony and concluded two days of activities around campus.

Yes Mark I did read your comment and to me when I read "what did he do to Earn an honary doctorate? Play football??? I took it that you didn't know his academic record is just as impressive as his football record.
I lived in Huntington most of my life and remember when Marshell was only 3 or 4 buildings. I have always followed the football games and so happy to see the teams do good. Chad has given back to the community well. As has Randy. I was glad to see that Randy made better choices and is doing well....It would be nice to find someone that would help a 62 year old great-grandmother with things to raise her 3 great-grand children. If anyone knows of such a person let her know. May God continue to give the blessing to all that is helped by these 2 young men, Chad and Randy.
Im very proud of Chad Pennington and i have looked up to him ever since I was 13 i am now 23 and i think that he is a true icon for Marshall and the City of Huntington. I also agree with mu fan that I would love to see him work with our current team they desprately need some help from someone who knows all about winning, leadership, and playing for championships. There moto is "Why not us." they have to stay out of jail first. Any way, Chad thanks for not forgeting about Huntington and Marshall University. We love you and you deserve everything great that comes your way.
