West Virginia mine safety spokesperson Caryn Gresham said one man died this morning at the Double Bonus #6 mine on the Wyoming/McDowell County line.
Gresham says a mechanic and a shuttle car operator were preparing to do some work on a shuttle car when the car moved on them. The accident killed one man and seriously injured the shoulder of the other man. He was life-flighted to Charleston Area Medical Center. His condition is unknown.
Gresham says state and federal inspectors are on the scene. This is West Virginia's 22nd coal mine fatality this year.
