SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency responders warn us all the time about the dangers of driving in high water.
Wednesday, one emergency responder in Putnam County found that out the hard way.
Emergency crews tell WSAZ.com a volunteer firefighter was returning from a water rescue when he tried to drive through some high water along Scary Creek Road and got stuck.
It happened around 3:00 p.m. at the intersection of Scary Creek Road and Hedrick Road in Putnam County.
The volunteer firefighter works for the Teays Valley Volunteer Fire Department. A lieutenant with the fire department tells WSAZ.com the water wasn't that high when the fire crews first went across.
He also estimates the damage of the truck to be around $3,000. He says the rear of the truck is twister, a front tire is busted and the front section of the truck also suffered damage.
It took crews more than a hour to get the truck out of the water. The firefighter was not hurt.
