Plane Shooting Under Investigation
Police believe someone shot at a plane while it was flying between Parkersburg and Ravenswood.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - The Wood County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting of a small private plane that was flying between Parkersburg and Ravenswood.
Sheriff Jeff Sandy says police don't know much at this point other than that the shooting happened either in Wood County or Jackson County.
The Cessna 172 was hit in the wing on May 31, although the plane's owner didn't notice it for several days. No one was injured and the flight wasn't affected.
Terry Moore, manager of the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport, says it was a matter of luck that the flight wasn't seriously imperiled.

i must be missing something. if the owner didn't notice it until several days later, how do they know when it was hit and that it was hit while flying?

A Cessna 150 was shot a few years ago while flying in the Parkersburg area. The instructor and student pilot heard the impact and landed safely. It was reported to authorities. I never heard of anything more about it.
