Tri-State Racetrack Set to Break Ground on Hotel
As promised, Tri-State Racetrack and Casino is getting ready to build a new hotel. But they're up against a tight deadline and a heavy fee if its not running on time.

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- As promised, Tri-State Racetrack and Casino is getting ready to build a new hotel. But they're up against a tight deadline and a heavy fee if its not running on time.
The racetrack is set to break ground on the hotel next week. The hotel will have 150 rooms, 24-hour room service, a pool, jacuzzi and concierge services on the top floor. The hotel will be decorated in a Mardi Gras theme, according to spokesperson Kim Lawrence. The hotel will be four floors and located next to the racetrack.
The hotel was part of the deal in the table games vote that voters approved. The hotel has to be built by August 2010 or the racetrack would have to pay $2.5 million in fines each year.
Vice-president of the racetrack's parent company, Dan Adkins, says he's confident the hotel will be completed on time.
Charleston based Silling and Associates are the architects on the project. Agsten Construction will be building the hotel, they're also based in Charleston.
