Gambling Bill Passes KY House, Now Heads to Senate
House lawmakers have approved legislation that would expand gambling opportunities at Kentucky horse tracks.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - House lawmakers have approved legislation that would expand gambling opportunities at Kentucky horse tracks.
The measure passed 52-45 and now heads to the Senate where it's propects for passage aren't as good. Senate President David Williams has said it lacks the support it needs to pass.
Gov. Steve Beshear called lawmakers into a special session to address a projected $1 billion budget deficit. He included the gambling proposal, which he said would generate needed money for state coffers and help a struggling horse industry.
House leaders have proposed using about $1.3 billion in gambling revenue to to rebuild old and dilapidated school buildings throughout the state. Stumbo said the plan not only helps education but also boosts the state's economy.

horse track gambling, uh wouldnt some good paying jobs be better? I thought these elected officials were supposed to be smart.
