ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teacher in Roane County has been charged with solicitation of a minor.
According to the Roane County Prosecutor, the crime took place through text messaging. The criminal complaint states the victim is a student at the school.
Prosecutor Josh Downey tells WSAZ.com the Roane County Sheriff's Department arrested Michael Brohard on Wednesday night.
According to Downey, Brohard is a teacher at Walton Middle School. The complaint also states Brohard is a coach at the school.
"It's a very serious allegation at this point that the state is taking very seriously," said Josh Downey, Roane County Prosecutor. "Any crime involving a minor child is very concerning."
Brohard was released on a $50,000 bond.
We tried to get a comment from the Roane County Superintendent, but he was out of the office.
