HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Family, friends and fellow journalists are gathering Thursday to say goodbye to Ernie Salvatore.
He funeral is being held at St Joeseph Catholic Church in Huntington.
Ernie died on July 3 at the age of 87. Ernie was most remembered for his many years as the Executive Sports Editor at the Herald-Dispatch.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va (WSAZ) -- Longtime Hearld Dispatch writer Ernie Salvatore was found dead early Friday morning.
The Hearld Dispatch confirms that Salvatore died in his sleep. He was 87-years-old.
Salvatore was a sports writer for the paper for more than six decades.

The news world has lost a journalistic giant. What Ernie did for Marshall sports will always be remembered. Had it not been for his undying devotion and true compassion, Marshall football maynot be here today. WE ARE MARSHALL.....thanks to people such as Ernie. There will never be another. Thanks!
