CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A mom is in jail because police say her son got his hands on something no toddler should ever touch.
Officers have charged 24-year-old Hannah Workman with gross neglect after police say her four-year-old son shot himself in the leg.
The gunshot wound was not life-threatening. The boy did have to undergo surgery Friday.
According to the criminal complaint, it was Workman's other son, a 2-year-old, who found the gun, which he then gave to his 4-year-old brother.
"There was a gun underneath my couch,” Workman said. “My boyfriend put it there. My son got a hold of it. I put it on the cabinet. It was not my fault."
Police are now searching for Workman's 16-year-old boyfriend who may have been at the house at the time of the shooting. Police say he could also face charges.

I for one know hanaha, and i know she is a good mother... She made some wrong choices i agree and she excepts the responsibility for that.. I don't agree with everything she has done but i know hanaha loves her kids and is a very beautiful person... Hanaha doesn't need nasty comments she needs support.. Think twice before you write what if it was your sister, mother or friend would say those things about them? I doubt that you would.. As for you chad i know your sister i met her when she lived in the apartment and i know first hand she is a really good mom always w/her kids and never took her eyes off them for a second and always working to support them.. She just made some bad choices.. I pray and hope everything will turn out that she will be with her children again!
I am a GOD loving person and I admit that I "could've" been there to help my sister more than I have. Can't change the past. All I can do is help help her and help her children like I shouldve done in the past the best I can. My nephews love me and I love them and would do anything I can for them. I didn't know there was a problem until all this happened. If I wouldve known you think I wouldve let this all happen without getting involved? My sister loves her kids and never meant to hurt any of them. She'll do everything she can to fix her life and I will help her the best I can. And for everyone who wants to down me and say where was her family......"I was trying to be there for my family and raise my kids like I was supposed to be doing." Not all of us make the best decisions and she made some bad ones. I will be here to help her through anything I can and will always be here to keep you heartless fools from dragging her down more than you already have. Love ya hannah. get well soon
you people are stupid i have also worked with hannah... She loved her kids you guys need to quit judging hannah you dont even know her. She was a great person an you cant watch 4 kids at once. The bf is to blame with his lil 16 year old self the police need to release a name he is just as much to blame as hannah i dont think she had anything to do with it. I love u girl let god help you an chad keep praying for her i got you an your familys back she was a great friend
