WASILLA, Alaska (AP) - Spokesman: Sarah Palin is resigning as Alaska governor on July 26.

Her spokesman wouldn't say why Palin decided to step down, but the announcement stirred speculation that she would focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president.

Spokesman Dave Murrow says Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the governor's picnic in Fairbanks at the end of the month.

In a statement released by her office, Palin says once she made the decision not to seek re-election, she also decided that if she were to "embrace the conventional Lame Duck status," it would amount to "another dose of politics as usual." She said that's something she "campaigned against and will always oppose."

Palin was selected as the Vice Presidential candidate for Senator John McCain in the 2008 presidential election.

Joe Biden may have made some comments that he wishes he could take back but he has done FAR more for this country than "the quitter." The only thing she has provided us that was of any use at all were some good laughs. I'll miss those. LOL

Joe Biden is an idiot. My favorite stupid comment, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened," he said. Herbert Hoover -- not Roosevelt -- was president in 1929, and television had not yet been invented in 1929. And my second favorite, speaking about Obama, "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man." That sounds a little racist to me.

Yet the US has higher death rate for children under the age of 5 than western European countries with universal health care so is it right to stop abortion just to let kids die for lack of health care,seems to me as if we were against killing unborn babies then we would do something to make sure those kids when born would live longer than 5 yrs.

If you find yourself in wal mart more than 4 days a week, beware of the secret shopper man they have working for them. I first noticed him peering through the vegtables at people, then I saw him walking frantic through the store in circles. At first it freaked me out, then I realized what he was doing. Why in the world would they hire such a strange person. Well one night I was in there with my children and he approach me and started to strike up a conversation, he asked me why I was in the store so much, at this point I knew he was trying to scare me from coming back or shopping there as much, it really made me upset, because the bulk of my shopping is done there. I am upset every time i have to go in wal mart because he is not a good secret shopper if he stops and gives hiself away like that, but i called and complained because he continues to follow me, and they said he is able to do that to all customers. Most countries health cares administration fees equal 5% the US is 11% why.Have you read the final plan if so tell me what part you dont like.Chances are if you work you will be covered thru work and we all know that ones who dont work are already covered thru one program or another that we already pay for thru taxes but the people who work and cant afford care right now are the ones that needs the help they are getting

My husband and I are both WORKING and COLLEGE EDUCATED who are struggling to pay other bills because of this electric bill! We are looking into alternate sources of heat like gas, wood or pellet stoves. It is just a shame that the state of WV would allow this to happen!

  • Posted By: Margaret: Am I the only person struggling to pay the electric bill?I have AEP and my bill has more then doubled since January.I was so convinced that the meter was broke that I called and had it tested by an independant electrician.My bill was almost $700 for one month,and was never over $250 in the 5 years that I v lived here.I m told that they did a 30% increase on the electric.I v also been told that it was per kilowatt.During thease hard times ,recession,ect,how are we supposed to survive.And what about the elderly on fixed income.As well as disabled,single parents .I have talked to family members who say their bill has doubled or more.We need to stand up to thease large utility companies,maybe a petetion,calls to our state leaders ect.

Too many people have lost their job and are facing foreclosure on their homes. Lets keep jobs in the USA. I learned the hard way that they aren't. I had to rush my dog to the Pet ER at 2AM after applying the liquid. The medication had entered her nervous system, causing her to lose muscle control. I now only purchased Vet approved flea control medication. The higher cost is worth the peace of mind. I am happy to hear the medication will be more closely regulated. And I would rather see 8 girls temporary out of work if it reverses the trend of being "in" to smoke to being "a loser" if you do and 10,000 young people choose against it who may have picked up the habit. At least now smokers still can go outside. If they don't give up this fight, it WILL become illegal. Then where will you be? The bar owner may want to decide whether to be smoke/non smoke. But what of the workers? With jobs scarce, they may not have the option of moving out of a smoke environment. That means your boss will save sooooo much money under his system he/she can afford to give you a big raise! Now if you pay $1000 dollars a month for your coverage, a 100% savings on that would mean you pay zero dollars; a 3000% drop in cost would mean what, your employer saves or gets back from somewhere around $3000 to $30,000 dollars? No, I am not making this up; I heard Obama say it. Great news. Why wouldnt anybody support Obamacare. Boy that Bush sure was dumb.

He has carried the water for Obama and Pelosi on this Obamanation healthcare bill from the start; he was one of the first to endorse Obama; he is largely protected by WV media, who refuse even to publish his office phone numbers in order that you can call and voice your opinion; Nick and Nancy's bill raises 10 new taxes immediately; gives no "benefits" for 4 years; will ration your care, will raise your premiums, will limit your choices. Sound like a good deal? If you possibly can, log onto the League of American Voters website and contribute to the ads they are running...hurry, do it now.
