UPDATE 7/20
BELLEFONTE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The Republicans have their candidate and the Democrats will choose from two tomorrow night- all to see who will replace long time Kentucky State Senator Charlie Borders.
Last week Borders was appointed by Gov. Steve Beshear to the State Public Service Commission.
Six term State Representative Robin Webb and Todd Eastham, a business co-owner in Greenup are the two democratic candidates.
On Tuesday night, 18th district Democrats will meet in Greenup and choose between Webb and Eastham. Then the campaign kicks into high gear with less than five weeks until the election.
ORIGINAL STORY
GREENUP, Ky. (AP) -- Republican leaders on Saturday unanimously selected Jack Ditty as their candidate in a special election for the state Senate seat vacated by Senator Charlie Borders.
Borders resigned last week after Governor Steve Beshear appointed him to the Public Service Commission.
A special election on August 25 will decide who fills the vacancy.
Louisville's The Courier Journal reports Ditty is a Greenup County dermatologist who has pledged to bring fiscal responsibility and innovation to Frankfort.
The Senate district is formed of Greenup, Carter, Lewis, Mason, Robertson, and Bracken counties. Party committees from those counties selected Ditty.
Democratic party committees are scheduled to select a candidate on Tuesday.

Your vote is always wasted anymore! It doesn't matter who you vote for anymore. Bush, Obama, Mccane, and Clinton proved that! Besides. There not running the show anyway. Thats the group of 120.
