NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A spokesman for Bayer MaterialScience says the company is closing its resins operations in New Martinsville, leaving 40 workers out of a job.

Sean Kelly says the operation is scheduled to close at the end of this year as part of the company's ongoing global restructuring initiatives.

Kelly says the workers will have the chance to look for jobs within other parts of the company.

The company says the resins work done in New Martinsville will be consolidated into other facilities worldwide. Materials made in the operation are used in the furniture, construction and automobile industries.

About 260 workers remain at the plant.
