CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Charleston's mayor Danny Jones was asked to speak with Vice President Joe Biden Thursday about the federal stimulus plan.
The VP asked for feedback about how to distribute the federal stimulus money to municipalities. Jones suggested using the size of the city as the main factor for consideration.
"I like the old revenue sharing model," said Jones. "It was a prescription according to population. Send the money to the local governments. You don't have to go through your governor. It doesn't get political. You spend the money on capital expenditures, not recurring expenditures."
Jones says the city applied for about $4.8 million worth of stimulus money. He speculates the city will only get about half that amount, though.
Jones was one of four mayors in the country who participated in the conference call.

Many years ago when I moved to Charleston, I made a sales call on Danny. He was, at that time, still at the rib house in Nitro. He tirelessly referred to "when I was in office..." as well as the massive coverage a local TV station allocated to covering his exploits. The way he presented himself and the "office" he'd occupied, I wondered if I'd been living under a flat rock somewhere and missed the coverage of this self-proclaimed world title-holder. In what catagory, I did not know. Politics? Law and Order? Finally, on a follow-up call, as professionally as I knew how to do it, I 'fessed up that I was unaware of his background, and had no idea who he was (or had been). His response? He literally took me by the collar of my coat and showed me the door. The lesson learned? Once a narcissist, always a narcissist. Remeber the Bette Midler line from the movie: "but enough about me, let's talk about you. What do You think about me?" It's ALL about Danny.
There goes the neiborhood!!!
danny jones must want to pad his pockets and give friends big bonuses
