CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The West Virginia Music Hall of Fame got a major boost Saturday night.

Homegrown musicians preformed as a part of a fundraiser for the Hall, which holds induction ceremonies in November.

Saturday was the first time the group has hosted a mid-year concert; it's in advance of the Hall of Fame exhibit opening up at Tamarack in Beckley in September.

Everett Lilly is with "The Songcatchers," he tells WSAZ.com that music with West Virginia roots has a special kind of soul.

"I think the music is very very special because it's varied. It represents different cultures within the mountains, and so it really represents our mountain heritage."

The hall is currently looking for donations of West Virginia Music memorabilia.

They're also looking for volunteers to do research.
