KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va (WSAZ) -- A familiar name will be on the ballot for Kanawha County voters next spring.

Dave Hardy submitted his pre-candidacy papers Thursday afternoon to County Clerk Vera McCormick. Hardy has been a member of the Kanawha County Commission since 2001.

Hardy told WSAZ.com he is excited to get back out on the campaign trail because the next six years will be important ones for the county.

“Budgets are tight and people appreciate it when you use technology and you use your head a little bit to bring these municipalities together to work on things together,” Hardy said. Adding, “Particularly in the upper Kanawha Valley area where there are a lot of smaller towns.”

When it comes to metro government in Kanawha County Hardy said the county commission needs to continue to educate the public and some city leaders in order to clear-up some misconceptions.
