FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An eastern Kentucky school will not open this year without some financial help.
School officials say the operating board decided to close Mountain Christian Academy in Floyd County because it needs $200,000 to operate.
The school almost closed last year because of budget problems, but people in the community came forward with donations.
Jack Jarrell is a board member and a parent. "We haven't given up hope. we hope that something happens. if God wants the school to be open it will be open."
Board members confirm the schools dean, David Aker, has resigned. They did not comment on his decision.
66 students were already enrolled for the school year which was supposed to begin August 17th.

From what I see the parents will need to go back to school just to teach their children anyway. The teachers send so much homework home. Why isn't more work done in the school environment instead of send home for parents to help. I thought that is what teachers were for. If the parents have to help with homework everynight then why don't they just home school. No wonder a child hates school. They're up at 5 am. Go to school. Come home and have to do homework until bedtime. They have no home life. The schools have their hand out for everything plus pay the teachers big salaries. All they want to teach is that it's alright to be gay and you don't need to mind your parent or do anything they say. Nobody can say no to you. But parents aren't much better in that department. They teach their child they don't have to listen to anyone either. So then everyone wonders where the children go wrong? No morals. No respect for other people and their property. Lord help the future generations.
I am sending my child to Johnson county christian school. They have been amazing with him. He went to another school earlier and was beind due to over crouding. He is now ahead of his level. I would recommend JCCS to anyone who wants a great education for their children.
I went to this very school when i was younger, as i remembered they drilled the information in your head and if you didnt get it then you were called stupid by your teacher that is why me and a number of student from my class were pulled from that school and placed in public school. the best choice my mother could have made.
