IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Embattled Ironton Police Officer Beth Rist may no longer have a badge, but she might soon have a vote.
Rist has filed papers to run in the Ironton City Council election. Rist was fired by Ironton's mayor last October after allegations that she wrote up a violation that didn't happen.
In February, Rist pleaded guilty to falsifying a police report. Her attorney said an arbitrator ruled Rist should be reinstated to the police force.
WSAZ.com contacted Rist on Friday to find out why she is running for City Council.
"If they are not going to let me help the citizens on the street, I will help them through another avenue," she said.
There are four open seats on Council.
