Trial Date Set for Man Charged in Daughter's Death while on Vacation

HORRY COUNTY, SC. (WSAZ) -- A trial date has been set for the father from Portsmouth, Ohio charged in the death of his baby daughter while on vacation in Myrtle Beach.

Miles Lee Ferguson is charged with homicide by child abuse in the July 2007 death of his five week old daughter, Mylee.

The infant was taken to the hospital after she stopped breathing.

Hospital workers noticed the baby's injuries were consistent with shaken baby syndrome. That's when police arrested her father.

His family says it was a horrible accident.

Ferguson’s attorney tells WSAZ.com the case is scheduled for trial on November 9 in Horry County.

Ferguson is free on bond. If convicted, he could get life behind bars.
