5 Arrested on Drug Charges in Olive Hill

CARTER COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An investigation in Olive Hill ends with five people behind bars.

According to a release from the F.A.D.E. Drug Task Force, the charges stem from an investigation by detectives with the F.A.D.E. Drug Task Force along with officers from Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Olive Hill Police Department.

The following people were arrested in connection with the charges:

  • Mitchell Layne, 47, of Olive Hill, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and wanton endangerment.
  • Valerie Layne, 38, of Olive Hill, is charged wanton endangerment.
  • Brenda Douglas, 46, of Olive Hill, is charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
  • Paul Damron, 49, of Olive Hill, is charged with driving under the influence.
  • Greg “Paul” Carroll, 50, of Olive Hill, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

    Layne and Douglas both work in the Carter County School system.

    F.A.D.E. Detectives continue to investigate and further charges are pending. Detectives encourage the public to contact them anonymously at 606-836-0442 about any illegal drug activity in Greenup, Carter and Lewis Counties
