Flowers also tells WSAZ.com that the school system is working with the health department to see if any procedures relating to the flu need to be reviewed.
He also says members Cabell County School Board have relaxed the system's attendance policy because of the number of illnesses.
The temporary policy is that students can be absent for 5 days with just a note from parents, then a note from a doctor is required.
Students who have been ill cannot return to school until they have gone at least 24 hours with a temperature of less than 100 degrees.

my son is now sick with the swine flu. He has been attending his classes at Cabell Midland and as a result has now come down with the virus. We hope we have caught this in time but us as parents what do we do?> Our children are expected to go to school and concentrate on their classes with everyone coughing and wheezing. Asthma kids, like my son, are taking a bigger risk by going in that building every day. Is hand sanitizer and quarrantine options available? How big a problem is this in that school? How many kids and teachers and administrative personnel are actually sick and contagious that are exposing these kids every day?
Just a reminder that a memorial fund has been set up for the family of Patrick Wheeler. Those wishing to contribute may do so at any Chase Bank. Just ask to donate to the Patrick Wheeler Memorial Fund. Thanks to those who have contributed so far. The proceeds are to be used to purchase a headstone.
I'm a husband of a teacher and a grandfather of a student at Cabell Midland, I don't think they are treating this as they should. When there is another DEATH at the school, who will they say caused it? It Better NOT be my wife or grandaughter thats the next death!!!!!!!
