COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSAZ & AP) -- Police say it was 70-year-old grandma from Ironton who shot and killed a man who was attempting to rob her and other family members in their Columbus, Ohio motel room.
Police are not releasing the woman’s name.
The woman and other family members were in Columbus for a horse show and were in the motel Wednesday night when police say a man with a gun barged through the door, which was open slightly.
The woman’s 51-year-old son, who also does not want to be identified, says the gunman demanded everyone’s money and jewelry.
The son says when the gunman ordered everyone to the floor; his mom grabbed her purse, pulled out her 357 handgun, came back over the bed and fired.
Police say 25-year-old Wayne Winston died after staggering to the parking lot.
The son also says his mom is saddened having to shoot and kill someone.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that the woman had a permit to carry a concealed weapon and that gun belonged to her late husband.
Police say no charges have been filed against the woman, but they expect the case will be presented to a grand jury.

the grandma's kin are from around here. Yea We are proud of our right to religion and bare arms. gram is a good shot, she just needs to control the adreniline rush afterwards. she will know what that means. PS. Great shot.....
When someone asks why I own weapons I tell them they're for those who don't think I should: "Liberals"(authoritarians, fascists and communists) and common criminals. Even if 'gun control' could be proven to lower crime it would still be evil. All gun control is propaganda designed to condition the stupid to more ‘control’ with complete civilian disarmament being the only true goal. Look at what the “Liberal” garbage did in England: http://willowtown.com/reality/britsinsane.htm The Founders wrote the Second Amendment so we can fight back against and kill those who would enslave us further. Don't understand? Start here: http://willowtown.com/promo/quotes.htm And if criminals want to make their jobs safer, just ask their potential victims who they voted for in the last presidential election. It’s a good bet Obama voters are too stupid to protect themselves and will let criminals have their way with them. That will be a good thing. This country needs fewer “Liberals.”
We go to this horse show ever year. These are cowboys from all over the US and Canada. I mean real cowboys who rope and calf rope, etc. I may not have gone to college but I must be a great deal smarter than the suspect. I would never try to rob someone there, trust me you were outgunned no matter what room you picked buddy.
