ATHENS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Athens County Prosecutor's Office is investigating an alleged financial incentive to voters by Ohio University's College Democrats group.
County Board of Elections Director Debbie Quivey says the action was prompted by a complaint.
“Yesterday (Monday) there was an individual that brought an e-mail in, a copy of one, and said that they would like to have it checked into. I talked to our Attorney at The Secretary of State's office in Columbus and he advised us to bring it before the board, we had a board meeting last night,” said Qulvey.
WOUB News obtained a copy of the e-mail hich was sent out Friday by College Democrats Vice President Kellie Galan
Galan writes about plans for a rally and says, quote, "...if you bring a friend from 4th ward they are more than a friend, they're five bucks!"
Athens County Republican Party Chairman Pete Couladis says offering money to vote is in violation of Ohio's election laws.
He put out a news release calling for an investigation.
The 4th Ward has the only contested race for Athens City Council.

No, it is another example of the democratic party using any illegal or fraudulent scheme they can to influence elections. Seems to be a recurring theme in every election in the country.
Of course you're confused, it's been the modus operandi of the Democratic Party for so long, you see nothing wrong with paying people 5 dollars to bring a friend to the polling station. It's how ACORN has operated since it's inception.
How does brining a friend to a Rally....and relate to buying votes...I am a bit confused. Is this just another case of the Republican Party attempting to toss a wrench into the wheel when things aren't going their way!?
