Police Chief David Brinckman says fresh spills of mercury were found Friday at the town's library, a church and a vacant dentist's office in Clendenin.

The spills occurred a week after a handful of fourth- and fifth-grade boys apparently took about four pounds of the neurotoxin from a former dentist's office and played with it for several days.

Authorities recovered three bottles containing mercury but one bottle is still missing.

The boys spilled the mercury at various locations around the town, including a church and the library. They also took the mercury to Clendenin Elementary School, where 25 students handled the substance.

Crews from the Department of Environmental Protection cleaned up all the spills.
