To Heather. Sorry for your ignorance of the law, but nowhere does it say that a truck is required to drive slower than the posted speed limit. Granted, in some areas, we have a split speed limit but even in those areas trucks are still allowed to go "posted" speed limit. Get real! If trucks did indeed run slower than the speed limit, other drivers would get totally annoyed with them as they do when we pull out from a stop light or pull a long hill. Trucks are essential to the survival of this country and even though people often make sad mistakes, as long as there are people, there will probably be trucks. Get used to it! Again, this was nothing more than a terrible accident that is in no way the fault of the trucker.
To the families of Linda Sloan as well as the truck driver and his family - you are in out thoughts and prayers. A horrible tragedy that will affect both families. To the folks that want to point fingers at either side - be it Linda Sloan or the truck driver - show some respect and compassion - this is tragic. Your criticism and judgment disguised as so called "opinions" do nothing to help either family. And to the so called "animal lovers" that could actually write "just a dog" - how dare you call yourself an animal lover - shame on you. Whether it be man, woman, or animal - ALL God's creatures. And the loss of life - always sad.
To just me: I believe these two truck accidents were the same. I think that the wheelchair guy was too close to the road and was on his way to cross the street instead of waiting for the truck to clear the turn. No one ever gives those trucks enough room to manuever. Moral of the story: Don't run out in traffic and please give large trucks the room that they need.
