CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- An investigation into an accident that killed a coal truck driver this summer shows that alcohol played a factor.
Mark Allen Gray drowned when the truck he was driving rolled over into a sediment pond at Catenary Coal's Samples mine on July 28.
The 28-year-old was working for contractor Hawkeye Contracting.
Thursday's report by the Office of Miners' Health Safety and Training says a medical examiner's review showed that Gray had a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent. The report also reported traces of marijuana in his blood.
Hawkeye Contracting was cited for failure to comply with workplace safety regulations. Foreman Phillip Rife and Appalachian Security also were cited for failing to comply with regulations designed to keep alcohol off mine sites.

I THINK ANYONE WHO HAS AN IGNORANT COMMENT ABOUT ANYONE WHO HAS LOST THEIR LIFE IN AN ACCIDENT SHOULD THINK ABOUT THEIR FAMILIES THAT ARE LEFT BEHIND AND PRAY THAT I DONT KNOW WHERE THEY LIVE CAUSE I WOULD SHOW THEM WHAT REAL PAIN IS,PEOPLE CAN BE VERY CRUEL AND NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT WHAT THEIR SAYING OR DOING IS GOING TO AFFECT SOMEONE ELSE.I PRAY THAT NED DOES'NT SLEEP AT NIGHT CAUSE YOU ARE THE ONE WHO CANT HANDLE YOUR ALCOHOL OBVIOUSLY SO SAY SOMETHIN ELSE BAD BOUT MY STEPFATHER BEFORE YOU KNEW HIM AS A PERSON CAUSE I WILL PRAY THAT GOD PUT HIS VENGENCE ON YOU
To Ned- So you are saying that "real men" can handle a certain amount of alcohol in their system? "REAL MEN" bow to The Lord Jesus Christ and do not need any alcohol or drugs in their body!
My God what's this country coming to? There aint no real men left anymore. 0.08 and you can't keep control of one little coal truck? Give me a break... I could have been a 0.18 and drove Daytona backwards with my eyes closed. People these days can't handle their liquor.
