CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The best of the best in West Virginia's music culture got the recognition they deserved Saturday.
More than half a dozen Mountain State natives were inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in Charleston, and several others lent their musical talent to perform at the event.
Country Star Kathy Mattea proudly calls Cross Lanes her hometown and was on hand to co-host the award ceremony with Fayette County harmonica guru Charlie McCoy, who was inducted last year.
"Music in West Virginia is mighty special, and some of the great, great artists that they have inducted and they will induct is gonna prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt," McCoy said.
The musicians inducted into the "living" category are Doc & Chickie Williams, The Bailes Brothers, Larry Combs and Nat Reese.
In the "deceased" category, Don Redman, Hawkshaw Hawkins and Frank DeVol.
This is the third year for the induction ceremony.
