HICO, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested a man from the Hico area connection with a triple homicide today in rural Fayette County.

Gary Dwayne Martin, 56 of Hico, is being held on 3 counts of murder at the Southern Regional Jail.

Fayette County Sheriff Bill Laird says Martin is charged with shooting Carl Blaine Cox, 24, Christopher Lee Legg, 23, and Dustin Tyler Hughes, 22.

Laird says the three dead men were from Hico.

Laird says some sort of verbal confrontation preceded the shootings on Stringtown Road near Hico.

Two of dead men were riding all-terrain vehicles and a third was riding a motorcycle when the shootings occurred about 1:10 p.m.

Laird said investigators have recovered a rifle they believe was used to shoot the three men.
