The demolition of the 20th Street Baptist Church continues this week. Tuesday night, the twin towers of the church are scheduled for destruction. Members of the church consider those to be the "structural symbols" of the church. To mark this moment, members of the church will hold a "tailgate vigil" at 10pm Tuesday.
All lanes on 20th street between 3rd and 5th avenues will be closed from 11pm Tuesday to early Wednesday morning during the demolition.
Marshall University bought the property and plans to put up a student recreation center. The demolition of the church is expected to last a total of 45 days.
