HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A police chase that started with a man suspected for possible drug activity at a Huntington hotel ended with the suspect under arrest up on Interstate 64.
Officers caught Diego L. Hansard near the 13 mile marker in the westbound lanes.
Investigators say they spotted their suspect driving on 8th Avenue--where the chase began.
Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas says Hansard was going as fast as 80 mph, and driving the opposite way down Route 60.
During the pursuit, another motorist crashed into a Cabell County Deputy's car near the 29th Street entrance ramp. The deputy had minor injuries.
McComas tells WSAZ.com that the suspect hit several other vehicles during the pursuit. Those drivers also suffered minor injuries.
We're told the suspect's hotel room was under surveillance for crack cocaine activity.
The chase started around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Hansard is a native of Canal Winchester, Ohio, a southeast suberb of Columbus.
WSAZ.com has learned Hansard will be charged with Possession With Intent to Deliver, two counts of Fleeing With Bodily Injury, Felony Assault on a Police Officer, as well as several misdemeanor traffic charges.
McComas says he has reason to believe Hansard threw a weapon out of his car at some point. Police are asking anyone in the Huntington area who may have found a handgun to contact the Cabell County Sheriff's Department.

People are crazy I miss Diego so much and everyone always want to tlk about get a real job you dnt no what this man has tried to do or experienced some people haveit easier than others and thats real I believe that he did what he had to do and I respect him for that drugs are never going anywhere this is life people should over it if uncle Sam was getting a cut im sure he wouldent mind but since he is not its a big issue diego Keep ya head up dont let your guard down
For all of you that say we should not judge others. Guess what the courts judge people all the time. Talking about praying for a drug dealer and you'd rather have a drug dealer living next to you than a child molester. Well how about not having either!!! You people are nuts and most of you who take up for these drug dealers are either black or do drugs yourself!! Maybe the rest of us are tired of driving down the street and having you crackheads eye raping us like we did something to you... You talk about people being racist... Well guess what if the shoe fits wear it. We all know certain ethnicities are more inclined to commit certain crimes. White people are more for killing people in mass and being child molesters. Black people are more inclined to do drugs, steal stuff, rape women, and pop shots off in downtown areas. Mexican people are known for being outside drinking and talking smack!!! I like all people with good morals but if you wanna call it like it is then there you go!!!
I Personally know Diego he happens to be a good friend of mines and he's just out in the "world" acting wordly he has a great Mother who has done the best she can with him, she is a Godly women. So as far as his parents he does have them. Secondly Diego is a grown man and all of you judging him means nothing because that's God's job so leave it to him!!! Instead of judging him why don't you pray for him and all thee other drug dealers to get better becuz they are addicts as well just in a different way! I pray for all you who said ignorant things. In no way shape or form am i agreeing with his actions, he knows what he did was wrong & trust me when i say he'll have to learn the hard way. So God Bless all of you!
