ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A rising county music superstar returned to his roots Saturday night.
Steven Salyers is a Catlettsburg native. This weekend, he hosted a Christmas benefit concert and dinner at the Belfonte Country Club.
Several hot items were up for grabs as a part of the silent auction. Including an autographed picture of Miley Cyrus. Proceeds from the event help to make sure Christmas is Merry for kids in eastern Kentucky.
The money raised will go to the Billy Ray Cyrus Foundation which benefits several charities that help out children. Cyrus, like Salyers is a Kentucky native.
Salyers says that giving back is really what Christmas is all about, and he hopes his event is a good reminder to everyone.

Stop drinking the Kool Aid, people! This guy doesn't care about "the children," only the press he gets from putting this concert on. And Concerned, you are right on! Dude needs a major hair makeover.
I went to this show and was a bit surprised. I thought it said "Slayer Sings to Benefit Children." My first impression was that the band looked much different than I remembered back in the 80's. I kept waiting for them to play something from the album "Show No Mercy" but they never did. That's when I should have realized that this was not Slayer but some guy named Salyers. Oh well, I hope they raised some money for the kids. By the way, I bought a concert t-shirt if anyone would like to purchase it from me.
You should extinguish the negativity and retain an attitude of gratitude for all that give to their community. Whether you like his music or hate his music. Give the guy a break - he's actually doing something with his career.
