Woman Killed in Fiery Crash on US 23, Name Released
Kentucky State Police say a woman was killed when her SUV slammed head-on into a coal truck Thursday morning.

HAGER HILL, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Kentucky State Police tell WSAZ.com the woman killed in an accident Thursday morning on U.S. 23 was 33-year-old Valerie Spurlock of David, Ky.
She was driving on U.S. 23 when the Kia Sportage she was driving crossed into the south bound side of the highway and collided with an eighteen-wheeled coal truck. Spurlock's SUV reportedly caught fire after the crash.
Spurlock was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County coroner.
The accident is still under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Kentucky State Police say a woman was killed when her SUV slammed head-on into a coal truck Thursday morning.
The crash happened on U.S. 23 near the Johnson-Floyd County line around 10:30 a.m. This is in the Hager Hill area.
Troopers say the driver of the SUV was on the wrong side of the road when she hit the coal truck head-on. The SUV also caught fire.
Troopers have identified the woman, but have not released her name.
They do not know why she was driving on the wrong side of the highway.
U.S. 23 has reopened after being closed for several hours following the crash.
