CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Chevrolet has overtaken Toyota as the biggest vehicle seller in West Virginia.
The West Virginia Automobile and Truck Dealers Association says the Chevrolet Cobalt was the top-selling car in the state last year. The Chevrolet Silverado remained the most popular truck.
The Ford Escape was the best-selling sport utility vehicle.
Overall, registration of new vehicles in 2008 fell by 17.8 percent and registration of used vehicles declined by 8 percent when compared to 2008.
Ruth Lemmon, the association's executive vice president, says the declines aren't surprising, given the economy.
